AIRAH’s Air Conditioning 101 has been re-developed to offer participants a better educational experience. The new release was recently introduced, six years after the original version.
The online course has been designed to offer a basic understanding of how air conditioning and ventilation works in buildings, and to familiarise you with the language and terms associated with this technology. Air conditioning and ventilation in buildings form an essential part of modern life. Its operation impacts personal comfort, health and safety, the condition of the building and its contents, and the external environment. Air conditioning and ventilation systems consume significant amounts of energy and contain materials that can be harmful.
The installation, operation and maintenance of air conditioning and ventilation in buildings is regulated by a range of laws, regulations and duty-of-care expectations. Owning and operating air conditioning and ventilation has financial implications that require management.
Air conditioning 101 is an easy-to-access online course that uses animations to help explain concepts, and a self-test framework to measure progress. Options for further reading are also provided. At completion, a course summary can be downloaded to provide a useful reference.
