GCP: Intent to Apply forms due soon!

The US launch for the Global Cooling Prize (GCP) was held on May 15 (AEDT). It included keynotes from Gina McCarthy and John Roome, and panel discussions featuring experts and thought leaders. A full recording of the event is available here.

Led by the Rocky Mountain Institute, the GCP is a global competition to develop breakthrough residential cooling technology.

The deadline for the Global Cooling Prize Intent to Apply form closes on June 30. The form is a prerequisite of participating in the Global Cooling Prize, and is a non-evaluation submission meant to gauge the interest of the participant and to know about the team and the cooling technology.

Participants are also expected to submit a Detailed Technical Application, to provide comprehensive information about the innovative cooling technology along with a detailed schematic, design calculations and technical drawings showcasing the achievement of the prize criteria. This will be evaluated by the Technical Review Committee before a selection of the top 10 finalists is made.

The response so far has been emphatic. Over 2,000 teams have registered to compete from 40 countries around the world.

The Finalist Award Ceremony is being held from November 7–8 in New Delhi. The finalists will be unveiled and the first instalment of US$200,000 will be awarded to each of them.
