The Global Cooling Prize has announced details on a pair of upcoming webinars.
The first session – How to Apply to the Global Cooling Prize – is scheduled for January 22 and 23. Administrators will provide a brief presentation before opening the floor to webinar registrants for a Q&A session.
A month later there will be a second webinar: Understanding the Technical Criteria for Winning the Challenge. This will take place on February 20 and 22 and offer potential participants specifics on the required technical criteria, as well as insight into the evaluation method.
The Global Cooling Prize aims to encourage people – whether professionals in the HVAC&R industry or innovators from the general public – to develop more efficient, climate-friendly residential cooling solutions.
In an email, the organisation says: “We are very excited to announce that over 1,000 individuals have registered on our online portal, and we have received preliminary applications from over 100 individuals from 24 countries.”
Recently, representatives of the Global Cooling Prize attended COP24 and the AHR Expo (the world’s largest HVAC&R marketplace) in Atlanta.
The prize is also being backed by Sir Richard Branson, who has pointed to the air conditioning industry as one ripe for disruption.
Prize registrations are open now, with preliminary applications due by June. The top 10 finalists will be announced in November 2019.
The total prize purse sits at US$3 million.
Webinar registrations are available via the Prize’s website.
