World Refrigeration Day webinars

ASHRAE and The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) are hosting two webinars to mark World Refrigeration Day 2021.

The theme for 2021 is “Cooling Champions: Cool Careers for a Better World”, and 16 webinars will be taking place this week and next to explore the career paths available to students and practitioners in the HVAC&R industry.

2020–21 ASHRAE President Charles Gulledge says ASHRAE is pleased to participate in this year’s activities, highlighting the science of refrigeration technology and its application for all.

The first webinar is titled Futuristic Career in Not-In-Kind Cooling Technologies and is being held on Thursday, June 24 (local time). The speakers include Yunho Hwang, Qian Suxin, Kim Jiyeob and Subramanyaravi Annapragada, and is jointly hosted by ASHRAE and the IIR.

The second webinar on Friday, June 25 (local time) is called COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Life-Saving Cold-Chain Careers, and Nawaz Kashif, Stefan Elbel and Chris Repice will present. Both webinars will explore the equipment, jobs, and processes needed to safely transport COVID-19 vaccines around the world.

World Refrigeration Day founder and chair of ASHRAE’s Refrigeration Technology Committee for Comfort, Process, and Cold Chain, Steve Gill, says opportunities within the industry abound for young people with a wide range of career aspirations.

“Advanced cooling technologies provide them with a profession that improves life in their communities and in the world as a whole,” he says.
