Kestrel Aviation expands fleet

Kestrel Aviation, which recently announced the introduction to service of its fleet of 3.6 tonne lift capable Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawks, has further announced the addition of its first Eurocopter AS332L1 Super Puma to its Australian owned and operated fleet of heavy-lift helicopters.

The large aircraft, with a lift capacity of around 4.5 tonnes and passenger carrying capability of 19, will join Kestrel’s existing fleet supporting clients in the construction, mining, offshore and aerial firefighting markets.

Kestrel says that its fleet, based at Mangalore in Central Victoria, provides a full suite of lift options to the HVAC&R industry from 500kg up to around 8 tonnes, in part thanks to its relationship with Erickson to operate the iconic S-64 Air Crane helicopter in the Oceania region.

“Aircraft like our Blackhawk and Super Puma show our continued commitment to maintaining heavy-lift capable assets year-round in Australia to meet unique lift requirements previously supported by seasonal international aircraft,” says Kestrel Managing Director Ray Cronin.
