Samsung Electronics Australia has announced the local launch of its Building Internet of Things Cloud (b.IoT Cloud), which enables air purifiers to be remotely managed on a large scale from one device.
Up to 255 air purifiers can be remotely controlled through the b.IoT Cloud. This makes the system suitable for settings where it is not always possible or safe to access rooms.
COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is piloting Samsung’s b.IoT Cloud within its hotel quarantine program, and is remotely monitoring more than a thousand Samsung AX60T5080WD air purifiers.
According to Samsung, the efficacy of portable air purifiers has been independently verified by University of Melbourne research using the AX60T5080WD air purifier.
Jeremy Senior, Vice President of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics, says b.IoT Cloud has been designed specifically to support commercial settings and has application across a variety of sectors and organisations.
“Research shows air purifiers can minimise the spread of harmful airborne contaminants and this is a priority for many businesses,” Senior says.
“Samsung’s b.IoT Cloud offers a single interface to safely and easily monitor and manage a fleet of units via a secure network. Users can check air quality levels or cumulative hours of filter usage from a remote location.
“There are many sectors which need or want to remotely monitor indoor air quality, such as aged care, education or health care.
“Australia is the first market outside Korea to offer this form of large-scale and remote management of air purifiers. We look forward to seeing the impact it can have on protecting our community.”
The b.IoT Cloud system is compatible with the AX60T5080WD and AX90T7080WD air purifiers. According to Samsung, these contain HEPA filters that are designed to remove up to 99.97 per cent of 0.3㎛ ultra-fine dust and inhibit the spread of captured bacteria. The models also have a Clean Air Delivery Rate of up to 467m³ p/hr, a Numeric Air Quality Display, wheels for relocation and wi-fi connection.
