Standards Australia has released a draft titled “Pliable building membranes and underlays: Materials” for public comment.
The document sets out the requirements for materials for use as pliable building membranes (also known as sarking or underlay), when used either independently or as a facing to other materials, such as insulation materials, and as control functions for water, thermal vapour or air control.
This standard does not cover requirements for materials used in the following applications:
- Air-handling ducts and building services
- Under concrete slabs on-ground
- Waterproofing above flat concrete roofs.
Thermal performance of reflective insulation pliable building membranes and faced building blankets is specified in AS/NZS 4859.1.
Submissions on the draft standard will be accepted until October 6, 2020.
